It’s the “day of the documentary” this week as we welcome live to BEHIND THE LENS, special guests Soren Peter Sorensen and Ido Haar, as they talk about their new documentaries, MY FATHER’S VIETNAM and PRESENTING PRINCESS SHAW, respectively.

With Memorial Day around the corner, the personal insight of first time documentarian SOREN PETER SORENSEN into a chapter of American history that fractured the country and dismissed the needs of soldiers, shines a poignant light on Soren’s journey to understand his own father better which in turn leads to another story and another soldier and the lives he touched.

In the second half of the show, director/editor/cinematographer IDO HAAR talks about his already acclaimed documentary PRESENTING PRINCESS SHOW. A fascinating underlying story about a “wannabe” singer, Samantha Montgomery aka Princess Shaw, and Israeli musician and video maestro Kutiman who, unbeknownst to the subjects, mashes up videos from the world to create new musical works.

And take a listen to excerpts of film critic debbie elias’ exclusive interview with LUKE WALKER as he talks about AUSTRALIA’S LOST GOLD. A blend of Indiana Jones, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys and Temperance Brennan, Walker delves into one of the greatest mysteries to come from the land Down Under – the story of Harry Lasseter, a lost seven mile vein of gold and an 80 year search for the gold and the truth. Fascinating doc. Fascinating filmmaker.

Plus, hear what ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS director James Bobin and producer Suzanne Todd had to say to debbie about melding the Carrollian world, the Burtonian world and the Bobinian world to create this new timeless classic. And some words of wisdom from Mike Epps on acting in these excerpts from his exclusive interview with debbie.
